BEST Safety & Training Provide Many Types Of Services Within This Instrustry
Safety Management
All Safety Managers will have a minimum of NEBOSH Certificate or level 3 British Safety Council Certificate. Floor Managers will be qualified to at least IOSH Managing Safely. Many of our team are qualified to a higher degree and have undergone other areas of training such as First Aid, Fire Warden, Crowd Dynamics, Temporary Demountable Structures, Pyro Safety, Environmental Health, PASMA and Electrical Safety.
BEST will deliver the following health and safety management services to the Client pertaining to the Project:
- Provide a NEBOSH Level 3 or equivalent trained Health and Safety Manager.
- Health & Safety management, ensuring safe practices are carried out onsite and the Client and all contractors are complying with relevant statutory requirements of the relevant authorities in areas of Health and Safety as far as is reasonably practicable.
- Attending contractor and venue meetings as appropriate.
- Ensuring the Client is kept fully updated throughout show build up, open and breakdown. • Ensuring the Client is kept fully updated throughout show build up, open and breakdown.
- Providing support for organisers, exhibitors, contractors and visitors during the show.
- Ensure the organiser’s requests are dealt with promptly.
- Working with contractors to do things as safely as possible, checking their equipment to make sure it is fit for purpose and correct PPE is being worn as required.
- Check each structure and/or stand is built according to designs, rules and build regulations and Health & Safety regulations.
- Implementing improvement and prohibition notices as required.
- Dealing with safety concerns from organisers, the venue and floor managers.
- Making sure the emergency aisles are clear, so far as reasonably practicable.
- Liaising with the venue, local authority, structural engineer, exhibitors and contractors.
- Liaising with the medical department and investigating site related accidents.
- Writing accident reports.
- Attempt to resolve all issues promptly and in accordance with the support procedures.
- Ensure breakdown is carried out safely and according to relevant regulations.
- Writing and submitting accident reports and RIDDOR Reports where appropriate.
- Attending post-show briefing.
Floor Manager Services
BEST health and safety training will provide the following Floor Manager Services to the client in respect of the project:
- Provide an individual floor manager who is trained and experienced.
- Providing support for organisers, exhibitors, contractors and visitors during the event.
- Working with contractors to advise on best safety practices (including checking their equipment and correct PPE is being worn/used correctly).
- Making sure the emergency aisles are clear, so far as reasonably practicable.
- Dealing with safety concerns from organisers, other exhibitors and the venue.
- Liaising with the venue, local authority, structural engineer, exhibitors and contractors if no safety manager is appointed.
- Liaising with the medical department and investigating site related accidents.
- Writing accident reports.
- The floor manager will ensure signoff on space only and modified shell stands is completed onsite prior to the show opening for all the stands within the criteria specified.

Stand Auditing Services
BEST Health and Safety Training will offer the following standard auditing services to the client in relation to the Project:
- To chase, collate, check and audit or otherwise all plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for Space Only Stands.
- Agree with the Operations Manager the format and content of all documentation.
- Keep Operations team up to date with status reports on a daily basis.
- Aim to respond to exhibitors / contractors on receipt of a plan within 48 hours.
- Act as auditor of plans, risk assessments and method statements against compliance criteria (as specified by the organisers in their Stand Building Rules and Regulations). In matters of non-compliance, BEST will liaise between Organiser, Contractor, Venue and Structural Engineer. If compliance still cannot be reached the matter will be referred to the Operations Manager.
- In the case of minor non-compliance this can be added as a condition to a “Permission to Build Notice”. Any queries to be referred to the Operations Manager.
- Permission to Build Letter to be agreed with the organisers, keeping language simple and easy to follow. Key safety headlines will be added as a footnote, e.g. Compliant Build Materials, Platforms, Duties of Care, and Equalities Act etc.
- Will query any plans coming in for stands that are on the exhibitor list as Shell Scheme
- Will forward notification to the Operations Manager of any plans that illustrate that an ‘oversized exhibit’ is going to be on the stand.
- Plans and correspondence will be filed in stand order and will be available 24/7.
- When agreed with the organisers will be onsite to brief and liaise with H&S Officers and /or chase any final missing information.
